Book Synopses:

The LENS and the LOOKER
BOOK #1 of The Verona Trilogy:

It’s the 24th century and humans, with the help of artificial intelligences (A.I.s), have finally created
the perfect post-dystopian society. To make equally perfect citizens for this world, the elders have created History Camps, full sized recreations of cities from Earth’s distant pasts. Here teens live the way their ancestors did, doing the same dirty jobs and experiencing the same degradation. History Camps teach youths not to repeat the mistakes that almost caused the planet to die. But not everything goes to plan.

In this first of a trilogy, we meet three spoiled teens in the year 2347. Hansum almost 17, is good looking and athletic. Shamira, 15, is sassy, independent and an artistic genius. Lincoln, 14, is the smart-aleck. But you don’t have to scratch too far beneath the surface to find his insecurities.

These three “hard cases” refuse the valuable lessons History Camps teach. But when they are kidnapped and taken back in time to 1347 Verona, Italy, they only have two choices; adapt to the harsh medieval ways or die. The dangers are many, their enemies are powerful, and safety is a long way away. It’s hardly the ideal environment to fall in love – but that’s exactly what happens. In an attempt to survive, the trio risks introducing technology from the future. It could save them – or it could change history.

The BRONZE and the BRIMSTONE
Book #2 of the Verona Trilogy

What could go wrong in the 14th-century for three time-traveling teens? How about – EVERYTHING!

Hansum, Shamira and Lincoln, three teens from the 24th-century, are trapped in 14th-century Verona, Italy. They’ve survived many deadly experiences by keeping their wits about them and by introducing futuristic technology into the past. Principal among these inventions is the telescope, which brought them to the attention of the rich and powerful.

But standing out can get you into unexpected – situations. The nobles of Verona now believe Hansum is a savant, a genius inventor, especially after he brings them plans for advanced cannons and black powder. Being the center of attention is great, but the potential for trouble is now exponentially greater because people are watching Hansum’s every move.

Meanwhile, artistic genius Shamira has fallen for a Florentine artist with bloody and disastrous consequences. Lincoln, considered an incompetent back home in the 24th-century, has blossomed – at least until he’s shot in the head with an arrow. And Hansum, after secretly marrying his new master’s beautiful daughter, Giulietta, is offered the hand in marriage of lady Beatrice, daughter of the ruler of Verona. To refuse could mean calamity for all the teens.

Amazingly, none of this is their biggest challenge. Because a rash illness is spreading across Verona – and it is threatening to consume everyone. Do they have a future in this past?

The LOVED and the LOST
Book #3 of The Verona Trilogy

A quest for lost love. An adventure of many lifetimes.

Hansum, Shamira and Lincoln are three 24th-century time travelers desperate to return to
14th-century Verona and reclaim their medieval family’s shattered lives. It is a mission fraught with danger and the risk of unexpected consequences for themselves and their worlds. For all three, it is a matter of the heart. For one, though, it is truly the only thing that matters, as the fate of his eternal love and the life of their unborn child is the prize to be won – or lost forever.

In this, the final book of The Verona Trilogy, our three time travelers go on the boldest adventure of their lives. They will face hardship, tragedy, and threats from sources they couldn't have imagined – all in an effort to wrestle a future from the steely grip of an unforgiving past.

Reviews:

The Lens and the Looker by Lory S. Kaufman
I haven’t read anything like this book before the concept is fresh and exciting. Set in the future but played out in the past it was a perfect mix of what the future holds but how the pasts plays a huge part in the future. I loved the idea of using the past as a form of discipline, teaching kids that they have it pretty easy now days. Sometimes a writer adds to much detail or not enough but Kaufman adds just the right amount of detail that make everything much more interesting. I am not a fan of historical novels, but this one really pulled me in and kept me reading. Also I loved the used of time travel, it wasn’t too much, so it didn’t over power the storyline like it can in so many other books I have read. The Lens and the Looker is a well written novel that anyone will like, it has the adventure, the detail and spot on plot that will pull you in until the last chapter. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Bronze and the Brimstone by Lory S. Kaufman
The second book in the Verona Trilogy, start where you left off in the first novel. I loved the first book, but I like this one more. The action, adventure and excitement was anything I could asked for in a book, but add hard times and an unknown future for the three teens. I could put it down, I read it in one sitting. I was just as taking with the amount of detail as the first book, but was a little disappointed that most of the story had to do with Hansum and left little to do with Lincoln and Shamira. Not that it made the story any less, but I just wanted more of them. I love Hansum and Guilietta, when he tell her he loves her, I had tears. The Bronze and the Brimstone is just as great as the first book, a really joy to read. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Loved and the Lost by Lory S. Kaufman
The last in the Verona Trilogy is my favorite in the trilogy. The quest for lost love is one of my favorite types of plots and this one almost took the cake as my all-time favorite. Hansum, Shamira and Lincoln go the biggest adventure of their lives, the hardship, threats and tragedy they face makes me heart go out to them. After reading the last to books, I invested in each character and wanted the best for each of them. I watch them grow over the last two books, becoming who they are now in the last one. I couldn’t put this one down as well. I felt many things reading this one, surprised, disappointed, frustrated, happy, and content, as well as amazed. This one kept me on the edge of my seat, but also kept me on a roller coaster of emotions. I love this trilogy! 4 out of 5 stars.

After society’s collapse, which is imagined in so many great dystopian stories, humans will either fade into history, with the dinosaurs, or, if it learns the right lessons, society will go on to construct a civilization to last tens of thousands of years. The books of THE VERONA TRILOGY are the exciting adventures of young people doing the latter.” - Lory Kaufman

Book Synopsis:
Dr. Lauren Crawford is a brilliant research scientist who discovers a revolutionary treatment for cancer that not only extends life, but much improves the quality of life for terminal cancer patients. The treatment, in some instances, can even cure certain cancers. On the evening before Dr. Crawford holds a press conference to announce that the FDA has given preliminary approval of her new cancer treatment, somebody follows her to her car and puts three bullets in her head. Was it a planned murder with a motive, a mugging gone badly, or merely a random act of violence?

Two New York City homicide detectives, Amaris Dupree and T.J. Brown, are assigned to the investigation. The detectives evaluate the circumstances surrounding Dr. Crawford’s death, and follow a trail of clues that exposes a sequence of startling facts. One by one, the detectives carefully examine each suspect and piece together a puzzle with unimaginable implications. As the investigation gets more intense, and the detectives get closer to solving the murder mystery, someone threatens Dupree’s life. The detectives now realize that Dr. Crawford’s murder was much more than a homicide. And if they don’t arrest the murderer soon, Dupree might be the next victim.

Review:
I really liked this mystery thriller, it has all the right stuff to make you want to read more without giving away too much until the time is right. I loved that it was fast pace but we got to know the main characters and see them grow as a team. I found that the relationship between the two detectives was very interesting and I wanted to read more. I also liked the storyline and how everything came together and made sense in the end. I love strong written women characters, Amaris Dupree is that and more. She is smart and has the sense of who is being truthful and who is lying. She is as hard working and can take a beating being a female homicide detective. Her partner is just as hardworking and strong as her, but he can pick up a small detail like no ones business as well as being able to fill in the shortcomings of his partner. I seem to always know who the killer is way before the end of a book, movie or TV show, but with Hypocrisy I didn't know who the killer was until the very end. It has so many twists the you will keep guessing. I really enjoyed this book and I am giving it a 4 out of 5 stars.

EXCERPT:

I didn't need to look back to know who was behind me. His scent alone added another milliliter of arousal to my underwear. I couldn't turn around, he was leaning into me so close. I could feel his heat as his wide muscular chest pressed against me, enveloping me. Heart don't fail me, now. Please don't stop beating, I kept repeating to myself as my heartbeat started increasing to presto speed.
“Are you trying to make me come in my pants in front of all my clients, little girl?” he asked.
Fuck, I need to breathe. He continued whispering into my ear, making every hair on my body stand at attention. “I've been jerking off to the vision of your tits in that white top for the last two weeks.”
I think I officially stopped breathing when he said, “your tits.”
“Please tell me you're at least eighteen. I really don't want to go to jail. But I think it might be worth it even if you're not.”
Okay, Emily, snap out of it. Say something adult and memorable. This was my chance.
“Yeah, I'm eighteen…” I finally said, a little breathlessly.
He got a little closer as his whole body shook laughing at my pathetic comment. I could faintly feel something hard bulging out and grazing my lower back. I was afraid of having a spontaneous orgasm if he got any closer.
“Thank … you … God. So you must be Jenna's little sister?” he asked, sending chills through my overheated body. My underwear was soaked by now. Even I could smell how aroused I was.
“If Mike knew what I wanted to do to his hot little sister-in-law right now, he'd have my balls.”
I still hadn't turned around. My legs were shaking; my brain was drawing a blank. I was much braver in my fantasies. Thank God there was no one in the kitchen to see us. WAIT! Reality hit me—where was everybody? Shouldn't the other staff members be helping me with the clean up? Oh my God, can somebody see us? I thought. I remembered the one-way glass and started to turn my head around to check just in case anyone else was there. That's when Louis Bruel's lips brushed my cheek as I turned my head. I guess that was the official moment I stopped breathing. I gathered all my strength and turned to face him inside his loose grip. I looked up at him, trying to seem in control of the situation. After what felt like twenty minutes of me craning my head up to his towering height, he broke our silent stare-off.
“I can't believe how beautiful your eyes are, little girl. They remind me of the water in Turks and Caicos. Your hair is the color of the sand there.”

The Madam by M.Robinson

Some people need love…

I need sex, money, control, and power.

Anyone could have those four things, but only one could have VIP. Becoming Madam was never a choice for me, it was a mandated order from the most powerful woman I knew- my mother. I was born to fill her shoes, never to make mistakes, or to show weakness.

You are the product of your environment. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree; you learn from what you see, not from what you're told. Nature vs. Nurture. I learned from it all; what I saw, what I didn't see, what I was told, and from reading between the lines.

I was raised with the belief that the world spun ONLY because of me. I held power as far back as I can remember, saw things no one ever talks about, and witnessed illegal acts of sex, drugs, and money by the time I was eighteen.

You saw a glimpse of me in VIP, now see it from the beginning. Enter my world where anything goes; no judgments, no remorse, no guilt. You play by my rules, or you don’t play at all. There are no limits to what I can do, or to what I can show you…I will ensure my legacy my any means necessary.

My name is Lilith Veronica Stone, and I am The Madam.

Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Dark content/sex/drugs/language. Mature readers only.

 ** Available May 19th 2014! **

INSERT EXCERPT

This is told from “The Madam” POV alone and runs along the first book in the series, but jumps a little more in the future. It doesn’t have a lot to do with the characters in the first book but she talks about them sometimes. You should really read them in order, so you can understand the third book.

This book was pretty messed up, but I couldn't help but respect The Madam a little bit more. We find out how she became who she is and I found myself liking this book better then the first one. I found that I like it the she knew what she wanted and did let anyone get in her way, showing that is a driven person. I felt that her POV she felt she was doing a great service to the Miami elite with her VIPs, that what she was doing as something great. We also go to see that she did care for her girls, teaching them and providing the life style they wanted. The Madam has a power, she is the Master manipulator, hands down she is clever and can make anyone see her way of thinking is right. She earned the respect of the girls and become their mother, mentor and protector and for that they loved her. I one thing that I can't get pasted is the Madams revelation at the end of the book, really what the hell was that. It made me really understand that she was as fucked up as I thought she was. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Third Book is going to be just as amazing.

**Before you read The Madam, be sure and read book 1: VIP**

32 year old Sebastian Vanwell, was a very successful yacht broker, who always loved the design and architecture of a luxurious boat. His only addiction was being on the water. He loved it, he thrived on it, and he needed it in his life. After a very stable, loving childhood with only a few bumps, Sebastian married the love of his life. The one person that he knew would always be there. Julia was his rock, and he loved her more than life itself. Sebastian kept his addiction to the water under control, wanting to keep his time with his wife and son his number one obsession, that was until he saw her. This new addiction haunted him, the one compulsion that he couldn't control no matter how hard he tried.

Ysabelle Telle hit him hard, knocking the wind from his lungs. Coming from worlds apart, beautiful, dark complexion Ysabelle Telle didn't have the rich, protected background that Sebastian Vanwell had. Ysabelle lived a life of hell, in poverty, growing up with a drug addict mother that never cared, and horrific living conditions. Ysabelle lived for one person and one person only; herself. She was pure perfection, her beauty along with a flawless body had men lined up, driveling over her ensuring her success as a VIP.

There are too many words that describe the effects when two diverse worlds like theirs collide. They both have too much to lose to get caught in the forceful pull, which could destroy them both.
